Federal Impression - 2nd Texas Cavalry Regiment (U.S.)

While Texas was part of the Confederacy during the Civil War, the state did field two cavalry regiments with the Federal army. Little is known about the 2nd Texas Cavalry Regiment (U.S.), other than the fact that it took part in the very last battle of the Civil War - the Battle of Palmito Ranch on May 12-13, 1865.

The 2nd Texas Cavalry Regiment (U.S.) was part of the 300-man 2nd Texas Cavalry Battalion. Like the earlier-formed 1st Texas Cavalry Regiment (U.S.), the 2nd was composed of Texans largely of Mexican extraction who remained loyal to the United States.

Our group is proud to represent the gallant soldiers of the 2nd Texas Cavalry Regiment (U.S.).
